『中国の第二革命―袁世凱闘争』

1911年の申亥革命は武昌を起点として中国全土に広がり、遂に清朝を打倒、孫文が臨時大統領に就任して共和制を宣言した。翌年明けに中華民国が成立したわけだが、革命勢力が比較的弱体であったため、同年に清帝が退位した後、首相であった北洋軍閥袁世凱を初代大統領とせざるを得なかった。本書は、この1913年の袁世凱の覇権闘争(いわゆる第二革命)の模様を、オーストリア人が生々しく記録したもので、主に上海を舞台としている。
